Creating an Adoption Profile Book

If you are a prospective adoptive family, your adoption profile book is your introduction to an expectant mother. It includes pictures and information about you, and it is often the only source of information about you that an expectant mother will get before deciding if she wants to meet you. Other than a home study, creating a profile book is the most important step you will take to begin your adoption journey, so we have compiled some tips and resources to help you get started:

  • Your profile book should include pictures of you, your spouse, and your extended family.
  • If you do not currently have any children, we encourage you to include pictures of you interacting with other children in your life, like nieces, nephews or friend’s children.
  • Include pictures of your home and your pets.
  • Include enough text to give the person reading your book a good understanding of who you are, but not so much text that you overwhelm the reader. In this case, a picture really is worth a thousand words.
  • Include a letter to the expectant mother about why you want to adopt and your hopes for the future.
  • Include your first names, but do NOT include your last names or any other identifying information like your address or phone number.
  • Create and order your book from a photo book company, like Shutterfly, so you can design your book once and print copies whenever you need them.

Once your profile book is complete, call us and set up an appointment! We collect profile books to show expectant mothers who are looking for an adoptive family. The first appointment with us is always free, and it will be an invaluable chance for you to get an overview of the adoption process, including information about adoption agencies in Tulsa, ways to increase your chances of finding a birth mother, and fundraising options.
